BERTHE

BERTHE is a historical drama feature, in early development, about the Impressionist artists, Berthe Morisot and Édouard Manet.

After the sudden passing of Berthe Morisot in 1895, her 16-year-old, orphaned daughter, Julie Manet, sets out to find out more about her mother's private and professional life. What she discovers is a story of enduring love, family scandals and a collection of art that was soon to become some of the most famous in the world.

Berthe is the woman Édouard Manet painted the most, who was not a muse, but his peer, and whose tremendous contribution to Impressionism and art has been all but rubbed out because of her sex.
